When learning Spanish doesn't come easily, the problem is compounded by the fact that it can be just plain embarrassing to ask for help. It's one thing to raise your hand and ask for help in math class, but it's an entirely different thing to attempt the same task in a foreign language. Doing so is often awkward and uncomfortable, and especially so for self-conscious teenagers. As a result, many students simply keep quiet and thereby fall further and further behind.
